In 2019 the BMRU initiated the first National Black British music exhibition titled Beyond the Bassline at the British Library King's Cross, London. Through the Living Knowledge network (LKN), an arm of the British Library, the exhibition also took place in 31 regional libraries
125 years of Black music-making in Britain. Spanning four continents, this is a story of excellence, struggle, resilience and joy.
